Our Last Day of Work

"Be flexible" has been the motto of our mission trips for years and this time was no different. We expected to have VBS for the kids but the adults here wanted a Bible study class also. God knew the need and had sent the Stacy Johnson family on their very first mission trip. Janette led the adults in a Bible study while the children were having VBS. I think there were about 15 adults that came to the class. Some of the local people who were bilingual did translation for those who spoke only Navajo.

Russell led the Bible study time for the children and today at the conclusion of the lesson 3 kids gave their hearts to Christ. This is the reason we do this kind of work!

Meanwhile back on the construction site Rhonda and LeAnne are still painting.

The sacred mountain of the Navajo is always in clear view.

There was good cell phone coverage here so no one could escape those calls from home.

The week has ended and the sign is brought in.

We all pose for one last picture with some sadness in our hearts to have to leave a place and people that we have learned to love in a few short days. I have no comment about the apparel of some of the group! Yes, we do have fun!

Wednesday

Sunrise today brought this beautiful reminder of God's promise.

The workers finished roofing the parsonage yesterday. Today's project included replacing some windows in a building that will be used for an office.

LeAnne is still painting!

This location is near where we pick up some of the kids for VBS.

Here is one of the groups from VBS.

Work Begins

This is where the church meets for worship.

The building was once a school cafeteria.

Our first work project was to roof the pastor's home.

There was a job for everyone.

Lynn, the state coordinator for mission construction projects stopped by to check on the work. We have worked with him for several years in New Mexico. Today he was wearing one of our old Tee shirts.

Sunday Worship

We attended the morning worship service at Dzilo Na' Oodilii Bible Church and had a great time of worship and fellowship together. After the service we were served a lunch of traditional Navajo food which everyone enjoyed. No photos were taken at the morning service but here is a sample of the music from the Navajo hymnal. The music portion of their service is called "Celebration".
